Toyota's Engine Factory Trip

Today I've got this opportunity to go to the Toyota's Engine Factory in Guangzhou China with 4 of my classmates. It's placed in Nansha, in the panyu District. Took us around 1.5 hours to go there.

So .. first of all, I want to say Thanks to my classmate Nagata whose planned this trip and to the Toyota company for the warm welcome which they gave to us today. Nagataa .. Arigatouu !

When we arrived there, the first impression is .. it's really really BIG ! and also the workers is wearing the same uniform, the office is clean. And .. this what today's trip special, we where accompanied by the General Manager itself. Firstly the secretary gave us a brief intro about their company, and after that we have the chance to look around the factory and then Have a lunch there.

I really like to watch the production system there .. it's really unique, as lots of us now about TPS (Toyota Production System). In the factory I've saw the "Andon" (a part of the machines that tell us whether there are some trouble happens and will stop the process), The "andon" works perfectly, and when there is a problem there, there will be a music which symbolized different kinds of meaning. So .. it's much more like a playground more than a factory I think .. hehe. And also they have the break for 45 mins a day. And everyday they have a chance to discuss about the working problems, so that they can continuously Improve theirself (Kaizen).

Though I've saw lots of stuff there, what really make me impressed is while we had our lunch together with the GM, we had some discussion, it's not about Toyota, but more aboout his Philosophy. He is someone who has a strong "Loving Toyota's Brand Feeling", which caused .. whether he went to other place using cars. He always choose to use the Toyota's Cars, this is also include in Taxi .. (except there is no Toyota's car where used as Taxi in that place). It's kinda pity that today I wasn't well prepared, so that I couldn't ask more about Toyota or maybe his philosophy, but actually this GM promised to me that if it is possible for us to meet again, and we will talk more about philosophy and have some little drink together ..
